<p><strong>Vacancy Description</strong></p>
<p>As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, opportunities have arisen for Shock &amp; Dynamics Mechanical Engineers / Finite Element (FE) Analysts to work within our Specialist Consultancy business at Barrow. </p>
<p>To develop and justify shock and mounting system design solutions for the support of equipment and systems, typically including: the development of mounting systems for items of equipment to provide shock protection and vibration isolation; and strength assessment of structures, fasteners and materials. </p>
<p>Specialist roles use advanced finite element analysis (FEA) methods, including fluid structure interaction to simulate underwater explosions, and mathematical coding for standalone applications or to support FEA. </p>
<p>Key Responsibilities <br />
Detailed knowledge of classical stress analysis and the ability to use appropriate first principals and/or code formulae; </p>
<p>Knowledge of structural dynamics; </p>
<p>Knowledge of FEA methods and software is considered advantageous; </p>
<p>Design, definition and qualification of mounting system and structural designs to provide shock and vibration isolation for equipment and systems; </p>
<p>Assessment of structural and mechanical adequacy; </p>
<p>Liaise with customers and other engineering/project disciplines; </p>
<p>Establish customer requirements, build models and complete calculations/analysis; </p>
<p>Technical report writing and technical presentations. </p>
<p>Knowledge/Experience <br />
HNC/HND, Degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; </p>
<p>Experience of FEA software packages.</p>

<p>The successful person will be accountable for the delivery of Cost engineering at EDF HQ BWD. </p>
<p>Remit includes delivery and daily management of specific project budget costs and schedule parameters, also the management of design discipline engineering man-hours and resources profiling (both internal and external) also management and interfaces with external main contractor and supply chain. </p>
<p>Key Responsibilities <br />
Management of EDF and AMEC junior and support cost personnel </p>
<p>Establishment of a project control budgets. . </p>
<p>Profiling forecasting of resources </p>
<p>Administration of contract agreement cost EWN change control between AMEC and the Client </p>
<p>Selection, management and motivation of assigned Junior cost personnel </p>
<p>Identification and effective management of change in project scope and costs </p>
<p>Monitoring of cash flow development of cost and budget procedures and standards </p>
<p>Develop man hour estimates for design engineering and site execution work </p>
<p>Monitor project, cost and schedule performance </p>
<p>Responsibility for the safety of designs </p>
<p>Liaison with the SPM and team members </p>
<p>Communicate information to client and project teams </p>
<p>Share best practice throughout AMEC. </p>
<p>Essential Qualifications <br />
Degree or professional status or equivalent in cost engineering /accountancy </p>
<p>Desirable Qualifications <br />

Demonstrate previous project cost management of multi-disciplined projects. </p>

<p>As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a Nuclear Analyst to join our Reactor Services business at our offices in Knutsford, Cheshire. </p>
<p>The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment of Reactor performance and/or fuel integrity issues for a range of projects in support of a number of customers including EDF Energy. </p>
<p>Working with minimal supervision, either individually or as part of a team. </p>
<p>Key Responsibilities: <br />
Successful execution of high quality work to time, quality, budget and customer satisfaction </p>
<p>Provide accurate estimates and technical specifications of work for proposals/tenders, and manage work within associated project budgets, including anticipation of technical risks and developing approaches to manage these risks </p>
<p>Act as Responsible Engineer for projects as required </p>
<p>Maximise the profitability of all work by ensuring that it is carried out efficiently and effectively </p>
<p>Maintain successful working relationships with existing contacts in client organisations and develops new contacts and opportunities for new business </p>
<p>Maintain a technical knowledge and competence in a field of expertise, which is recognised by clients, and seeks to develop skill portfolio </p>
<p>Provide mentoring and training for staff, as required </p>
<p>Experience / Knowledge Required: <br />
Understanding of Reactor Transient analysis. </p>
<p>Understanding of Nuclear fuel integrity issues &#8211; graphite and metal components. </p>
<p>Thermal hydraulics. </p>
<p>Assessment of material properties under varying conditions (irradiation, temperatures, etc). </p>
<p>Understanding of nuclear fuel manufacturing routes and issues. </p>
<p>Good understanding and the ability to apply Nuclear industry recognised codes. </p>
<p>Degree qualified, or equivalent in a suitable discipline &#8211; physics, applied maths, material science </p>
<p>Desirable experience: <br />
Demonstrable relevant Nuclear analyst / Safety Case experience. </p>
<p>Previous work for EDF Energy (British Energy). </p>
<p>Experience of nuclear fuel route operations and safety cases and/or Reactor performance. </p>
<p>Experience of AGR and PWR reactors</p>

Ensuring schedules are managed and delivered using the AMEC Project management guidelines. </p>
<p>Ensuring that AMEC internal management reports are completed to a timely and professional manner. </p>
<p>Experience/Knowledge Required: <br />
Oracle Primavera P5/P6 &#8211; advanced. </p>
<p>Microsoft Excel / Project / Word &#8211; Basic and advanced. </p>
<p>HND / Diploma within an Engineering discipline. </p>
<p>APM / Prince 2 qualification in Project Management. </p>
<p>Significant Planning experience working within the Nuclear industry, MoD or other highly regulated industry. </p>

<p>Key Responsibilities <br />
Management of the implementation of the project BMS during all project phases. </p>
<p>Implementation of a client project specific programme of internal audits / self assessments and external audits. </p>
<p>Ensure that AMEC contractual quality requirements are achieved. </p>
<p>Undertake monitoring, analysis and reporting of project Quality performance and KPIs, identifying trends and implementing any actions identified. </p>
<p>Liaison with all members of the project team in all areas associated with management systems. </p>
<p>Development and implementation of the BMS audit programme including the adequate and appropriate records are maintained for all phases of the programme. </p>
<p>Managing corrective actions resulting from the audit and QM programme. </p>
<p>Ensuring that Project, Site and Departmental Quality Inductions are carried out for new starters. </p>
<p>Ensure Quality Reporting to the Existing Nuclear Quality Manager and representation at progress meetings in respect of QM activities and early warning of issues which may affect the project </p>
<p>The implementation of policies, standards, processes, improvements and initiatives generated by the Corporate QA Function and Nuclear Services South Business Improvement Manager. </p>
<p>Implement improvement opportunities when identified and is expected to contribute to the provision of strategic direction for the Assurance (health, safety, environment and security) function within a project. </p>
<p>The delivery of AMEC projects that are compliant with the project delivery process and that meet the client required specifications. </p>
<p>Essential Qualifications <br />
Educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate subject. </p>
<p>Trained or looking to train as a Lead Auditor to ISO 9001. </p>
<p>Experience Required for this role <br />
A good understanding of Assurance related legislation, standards and best practice. </p>
<p>A good understanding of how engineering project processes link to Quality Assurance requirements. </p>
<p>Relevant, recent experience in a senior Assurance post within a project is desirable. </p>
<p>Practical experience of implementing Assurance requirements and activities within a project or company environment, preferably in the nuclear industry. </p>

<p>Key Responsibilities: <br />
The role will include, but not be limited to, production and expert review of safety case material supporting the licensing of nuclear power plants operating in both UK and international licensing regimes, including regulatory submissions. </p>
<p>Experience / Knowledge Required: <br />
Degree in any numerate scientific or engineering discipline </p>
<p>A broad range of experience in the production/review of safety cases covering a number of different technical areas or reactor designs, especially PWR, is required. </p>
<p>Detailed knowledge of the licensing process in any particular country is desirable but not essential.</p>

<p>Overview of Role <br />
As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, we have exciting opportunities for Waste Management Consultants to join our Consultancy business at our Gloucester offices. </p>
<p>Key Responsibilities <br />
Carry out technical studies providing solutions to customers’ challenges </p>
<p>Data analysis </p>
<p>Technical review </p>
<p>To ensure work delivery to time, cost and quality </p>
<p>To maintain successful working relationships within client organizations </p>
<p>The successful candidate will report directly to the Team Leader in Waste Management </p>
<p>Experience Required <br />
BSc in Chemistry, Physics, Geology or related discipline </p>
<p>The ability to combine practical considerations with a good understanding of underlying theory, in order to develop the most practicable and economic solution to a particular waste management or decommissioning issue. </p>
<p>Excellent technical writing skills </p>
<p>Ability to think critically </p>
<p>A self starter, able to work with minimal supervision </p>
<p>Willing to work flexibly either alone or as part of a team. </p>
<p>Experience of any of the following would be an advantage: nuclear waste management and decommissioning. </p>
<p>Knowledge of Letter of Compliance process and the Nuclear industry&#8217;s regulatory regime</p>

<p>Overview of Role <br />
The Reactor Services business provides high added value engineering, technical and safety case support to our customers’ nuclear operations, with a focus on optimizing operations and life extensions. </p>
<p>We have partnering arrangements in place with a number of major clients in the civil nuclear and defence industries, including EDF Energy, Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems. </p>
<p>We currently have an exciting development opportunity for a mechanical engineer to work with one of our main clients in their offices near Gloucester. </p>
<p>This is an excellent opportunity to work directly with experienced nuclear engineers and develop an understanding of operating reactor systems. </p>
<p>Key Responsibilities <br />
Successful execution of high quality engineering work to time, quality, budget and customer satisfaction </p>
<p>Develops and maintains successful working relationships with existing contacts in client organizations </p>
<p>Demonstrates focus on customer care, committed to delivering on promises </p>
<p>Anticipates technical risks associated with projects and discusses how to manage these with Responsible Engineer or Team Leader </p>
<p>Maintains a technical knowledge and competence in a field of expertise, which is recognised by clients, and seeks to develop skill portfolio </p>
<p>Works in a safe and sustainable manner and strives for continuous improvement in these areas </p>
<p>Essential Qualifications <br />
Degree qualified or equivalent (HNC/HND with experience) </p>
<p>Desirable Qualifications <br />
Achieved or working towards Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent experience) would be desirable. </p>
<p>Experience Required <br />
Experience in the nuclear industry would be advantageous, but more importantly an interest in developing a career in this area and a willingness to learn.</p>

As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Development Discipline Technical Lead to join our Consultancy business in Birchwood, Warrington. </p>
<p>The role will carry responsibility to ensure quality of technical delivery associated with their discipline within the business, and technical development of the resources in the team. </p>
<p>Key Responsibilities <br />
Act as a technical representative for the team with the teams Customers </p>
<p>Provision of technical leadership and expertise in the application of a specialised technical and professional skill to tasks within the Team and Business Unit </p>
<p>Maintain and expand the technical capability in the team/business being aware of the customer SQEP resource </p>
<p>Act as technical gatekeeper, to ensure a high standard of quality in the team’s work </p>
<p>Liaise and work with other professionals within AMEC, to maintain and promote AMEC’s broader capability and experience and ensure key technical developments are communicated within the business </p>
<p>Act as Responsible Engineer for substantial projects, possibly involving different technical disciplines to meet client requirements </p>
<p>Assist the Team Leader in the identification and allocation of resources for tasks in the technical skill area </p>
<p>Develop customer relationships to encourage follow on and new work within the technical skill area to promote future business </p>
<p>Essential Qualifications <br />
Professional technical/engineering qualification </p>
<p>Experience Required <br />
Significant experience of management of technical contracts to time and cost </p>
<p>Highly effective in identifying key issues, analysing information, proposing and evaluating options, and problem solving; and applying and developing the technical skill area in both established and novel situations </p>
<p>Experienced in developing, introducing and applying new methods and techniques, and resolving interface problems to provide solutions for clients </p>
<p>Experienced in managing a variety of projects simultaneously, to achieve specific <br />
results and outputs within defined budgets and time scales </p>
<p>Established skills in oral and written communication </p>
<p>Ability to work effectively as part of (or leading) a team. </p>
<p>Support Team Leader in seeking new business opportunities through existing and new contacts</p>
